JACKSON, Tenn. - The Union University women's soccer team fell to Delta State University 4-0, Friday evening. Union dropped to 0-8 overall and 0-6 in the Gulf South Conference. Delta State improved to 5-5-1 overall and 2-4 in the GSC.
The Lady Statesmen scored two goals in the first half. Anna Venckus recorded two saves in the first. Union's offense recorded 11 shots but were unable to capitalize.
Delta State scored two more goals in the second half to extend the lead. Union recorded 16 more shots in the second half, Delta State's Amanda Hilliard racked up eight saves.
Union out shot Delta State 27-18. Union had an advantage of six corner kicks to Delta State's one.
Union was led by Brooke Watson with six shots, Taylor Knight recorded five shots and Anna Barkey with four. Venckus played all 90 minutes in goal, finishing with six saves.
Up next for Union will be another GSC match at home against Mississippi College, October 7 at 1:00 p.m.
