CARROLTON, Ga. - The Union University women's soccer team was defeated 4-1 by West Georgia on Sunday afternoon. The Lady Bulldogs are now 0-12-1 and 0-10-1 in Gulf South Conference play. The Wolves improved to 7-7-2 and 7-4 in conference play.
Two minutes into the game, Union took the lead with a goal by
Anna Barkey, her fourth of the season.
The Wolves responded quickly with two goals in three minutes, and West Georgia capitalized again on another attack at the 23rd minute mark, making the score 3-1. The Lady Bulldogs led 9-7 in shots at halftime.
West Georgia's final goal of the game was in the 63rd minute, making the final score 4-1.
Barkey led Union with one goal and six shots. In goal,
Anna Venckus had six saves.
Up next for Union, is Aurburn-Montgomery and Montevallo in the last two games of the 2018 season. Senior day is Saturday, October 27 at 2:00 p.m.
