MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Union University softball team posted a double-header sweep at LeMoyne-Owen College Tuesday afternoon. Union won 11-0 in the first game, followed by a 19-0 win in game two. Union swept the season series with LeMoyne-Owen 4-0 and have now won three straight and six of their last seven games.

GAME ONE
WHAT HAPPENED
- The game was scoreless for the first two innings until Union scored a run in the top of the third on a sacrifice bunt from Marley Dyess.
- Union then exploded for eight runs in the fourth inning. The big blow was a grand slam from Gabby Morris to cap the scoring. Union also got RBI in the inning from Paige Robertson, Kristen Pickens and Dyess.
- Union added two more runs in the fifth inning on another RBI from Pickens and a RBI single from Molly McKelvy.
- LeMoyne-Owen got their only hit of the game when Tharpe led off the third with a single.
POSTGAME STATS
- Union got 11 hits in the game, led by Emily Bennett, Morris, Hailey Cummings and Pickets. Morris led with four RBI, while Pickens added three RBI.
- Ashley Graves (1-0) earned the win with a complete game, five innings, one hit, 10 strikeouts and no walks.
- Jamie Tharpe had the only hit for the Magicians. Tyler Lincoln (0-1) tossed five innings, allowing 11 runs on 11 hits with one walk and no strikeouts.
GAME TWO
WHAT HAPPENED
- Unlike game one, Union wasted no time in scoring as the Lady Bulldogs put up three runs in the first, eight runs in the second and eight runs in the third.
- Ashley Scott tripled for an RBI, followed by a 2-run home run from Robertson for Union three runs in the first.
- Samantha Ortiz hit a solo home run to start Union's scoring in the second, and added an RBI single later in the inning. Joining Ortiz with RBI in the second for Union included Rachel Ridolfi, Scott and Robertson.
- Parker Davis helped her own cause with a 2-run home run in the third. She joined Hannah Ridolfi, Rachel Ridolfi, McKelvey and Taylor Griffith with RBI in the third.
- Just as in game one, LeMoyne-Owen recorded just one hit. It was again from Tharpe who doubled in the third inning.
POSTGAME STATS
- Union got 20 hits in the game led by Hannah Ridolfi with four hits. Robertson and Ortiz added three hits each. Hannah Ridolfi and Robertson led with four RBI each, while Rachel Ridolfi added three RBI.
- Parker Davis (3-0) earned the win with five innings of shutout softball, allowing just one hit with no walks and eight strikeouts.
- Tharpe had LMC's only hit again, a double. LaNisha Perry (0-1) took the loss with five innings, 20 hits, 19 runs, 14 earned, no walks and one strikeout.
