ROME, Ga. – The Union University Lady Bulldog softball team dropped all three games in a weekend series against Shorter University. Union fell 7-6 in the first game in a 10 inning thriller in a single game on Saturday. The Lady Bulldogs would then fall 8-2 and 4-1 in a double header on Sunday.
Union jumped on the board first in the first game of the weekend. Union put up one run in the top of the first on a sacrifice fly to centerfield from

Hannah Ridolfi. In the next inning, the Lady Bulldogs put up three more runs to take an early 4-0 lead. Shorter cut the lead to 4-3 after a three run fifth inning. The Lady Hawks plated three more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to take the lead 6-4. Union picked up two clutch runs in the top of the seventh to tie the game 6-6. The game would span another three innings until Shorter pushed across a run in the 10
th to win the game.
Hailey Cummings led the Lady Bulldogs going 3-for-5 and two RBIs.

Emily Bennett both went 2-for-4 each scoring once and both picking up an RBI each.
In the first game of the double header Sunday, Union again scored in the top of the first taking a 2-0 lead. The Lady Bulldogs were unable to keep the lead giving up three runs in the third, one in the fifth, and four runs in the sixth inning to give the Lady Hawks the 8-2 win.
Shorter continued their momentum in the second game on the day picking up two runs in the first. Union cut the score in half, 2-1, in the top of the fifth inning, but the Lady Hawks put up two more runs to extend their lead and get the win, 4-1.
Union will return home in a weekday matchup against LeMoyne-Owen College with a double header Wednesday, February 22 starting at 2 p.m.
