Union’s Lindberg wins inaugural Beverly Pearce Cup

JACKSON, Tenn. - Union University women's golf rising senior KayCee Lindberg won the inaugural Beverly Pearce Cup for female golfers. The Pearce Cup is played in conjunction with the Jackson Stone Cup and the Senior Stone Cup, all played at the Jackson Country Club.

Lindberg said, "The tournament was a really fun setup. I got to play match play for the first time in my career. It was really cool to be able to play in the first women's tournament. It was an honor to meet Mrs. Pearce and to have her score the final match. Mrs. Pearce and her family have done so much for junior golf in Tennessee so it was great to be able to meet her and talk to her. I hope this tournament continues to grow and stays competitive."

Lindberg is a native of Clarksville, Tenn. and has played varsity golf for the last three seasons at Union University. She defeated South Gibson's rising junior Sally Tiger. Tiger is the daughter of Union's Faculty Athletic Representative and Acting Chair of the Business School, Dr. Andy Tiger.

She has played is 20 tournaments at Union with her best finish being a third place finish back in her freshman season. She has the third best scoring average (85.98) in the four year history of Union's women's golf program. Lindberg's 15 career birdies is also second all-time at Union and she is one of only three Union women golfers to record an eagle. Her 76 at the Christian Brothers Spring Invitational as a freshman is the third lowest round in Union women's golf history.
