Baseball falls in pitcher's duel at Henderson State

ARKADELPHIA, Arkansas- The Union University baseball team fell on the road at Henderson State Tuesday afternoon 2-1 in a non-conference matchup.
The Reddies got on the board early in the low scoring affair with and RBI double scoring one run followed by a sacrifice fly that pushed another run in to lead 2-0 in the bottom of the first inning.
Union cut the Henderson State state in half with an RBI double of their own in the top of the second when Bailey Holbrook came in to score on the rip to left center off the bat of Zach Phillips that made the score 2-1.
Neither team could score for the remainder of the game stranding only six runners combined in the pitcher's duel.
Tyler Mauzy led the Bulldogs at the plate going 3-for-4 with three singles and Phillips ended the game with two hits including the RBI double in the second inning. Skyler Harrison started on the mound for Union going 7.0 innings giving up just two earned runs on six hits. Andrew Wilson tossed the final frame in relief giving up just one hit.
Union returns home for the final Gulf South Conference series at Fesmire Field hosting Alabama Huntsville on Saturday and Sunday with first pitch slated for 1:00 pm both days.
