JACKSON, Tenn.- The Union University baseball fell to Trevecca Nazarene Tuesday evening 7-2 to fall to 7-28 on the season. The Trojans improved to 21-13 overall.

The Trojans jumped out to an early lead scoring two runs in the first inning off of two doubles from Tyler Tichenor and Bryson Shelton. TNU would add two more runs in the third giving them the 4-0 lead.

Union finally got something going in the bottom half of the third when freshman
Austin Orr ripped a double just inside the first base line scoring
Daniel Mathis and
Trae Bain to pull the Bulldogs within two, 4-2.

Trevecca Nazarene added another run in the top of the fourth and another in the fifth when Hunter Newman laced a ball over the left field fence to make the score 6-2 in favor of the Trojans. Trevecca added another run in the eighth to set the final at 7-2.

Orr finished the game 1-for-4 while Bain ended the day 1-for-2 with a run scored and a walk. Senior
Preston Thompson started the game for Union and earned the loss after going 4+ innings giving up six runs.
Andrew Wilson came on in relief and threw 3.0 scoreless innings and
Hunter Smith and Bain threw the final two innings for the Bulldogs.

Newman led the way at the plate for the Trojans going 3-for-5 with two runs scored and three RBI's while Bryson Shelton ended the day 2-for-3 with two RBI's. Ivy Starling earned the win for Trevecca giving up the only two runs of the game for Union.

Union continues their home stand when they host GSC opponent #16 West Alabama starting with a double header on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. followed by a single game Sunday with a 1:00 p.m. start time.
