JACKSON, Tenn.- The Union University baseball team lost their Gulf South Conference series with #16 West Alabama with a 14-2 loss on Sunday. Union fell to 5-22 in GSC play and 7-31 on the season. #16 West Alabama improved to 29-8 to improve their winning streak to 18 straight.

Union dropped the first two games of the series on Saturday 9-1 and 8-0.
Brady Cook led the Bulldogs in Game 1 going 2-for-3 with a run scored and
Jim Martin went 3-for-3 in Game 2 with three singles.

On Sunday afternoon in Game 3 of the series, #16 West Alabama kept up their run production going up 3-0 after three innings of play. The Tigers broke the game open in the 5th inning putting eight unearned runs on the board off of six hits and two Union errors. The Tigers would add three more runs in the next two frames for a total of 14 runs.

Union finally got on the board in the sixth inning when
Daniel Mathis scored on a double from
Brady Cook. The Bulldogs tacked on another run in the bottom of the seventh with a solo homer over the left field fence from
Davis Shoemaker to set the final at 14-2.

Skyler Harrison started on the mound for Union and only gave up one earned run in 4.2 innings of work to earn the loss.

Union has two home games left in their home stand with a game against Freed-Hardeman at 5:00 p.m. and another game against Cumberland on Wednesday at 5:00 p.m.
