HUNTSVILLE, Ala.- The Union University baseball dropped their series with #5 Alabama Huntsville over the weekend. The Chargers won the first game of the series on Friday 6-2, then took the doubleheader on Saturday 4-1 and 16-4 to complete the series sweep. The Bulldogs dropped to 7-35 on the season and 5-25 in Gulf South Conference play.
 
Alabama Huntsville took game one of the series 6-2, but freshman Marty Coursey only gave up three runs in in 7.0 innings of work against the top offense in the GSC. Jim Martin went 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored in the contest.
 
 In the first game of the double header on Saturday, the Chargers jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first. Union tied the game back up in the third inning when Ty Warnimont doubled to left field to drive home Hunter Smith. UAH held the Bulldogs scoreless for the rest of the game while putting up three of their own runs to take the game 4-1.
 
Chaz Wilson went 2-for-4 on the day with two doubles led the Bulldogs at the plate in the game. Smith also had a double in the game going 2-for-4 while Davis Shoemaker finished the game 2-for-3 with a double. Teddy Christie strong start for the Bulldogs in game two going 7.0 innings giving up only three earned runs but would earn the loss to fall to 3-6 on the season.
 
It was all Alabama Huntsville in the final game of the series with the Chargers putting up nine runs on six hits in the first inning of play. The Bulldogs managed to get four runs on the board throughout the game but could not hold off UAH to lose 16-4. Warnimont and Orr each went 2-for-4 in the game with Warnimont adding another double on the weekend.
 
Union wraps up their season this week with four home games this week with a single game Tuesday against Arkansas-Monticello at 4 p.m. and then the final conference series against West Georgia next weekend with a double header on Saturday starting at 1 p.m. and a single game at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
