JACKSON, Tenn.- The Union University baseball team lost to UT Martin 7-1 in a midweek game to fall to 4-23 on the season. The Skyhawks improved to 6-16 with the win.

The Skyhawks had no problem getting things rolling early scoring four runs in the first three innings of play. Nico Zych had an RBI triple in the top of the first then scored on a balk in the next at bat. In the top of the second Matt Hirsch was pushed home on a sacrifice fly from Drew Erie. Then in the third, Taylor Douglas scored after drawing a lead off walk to give the UT Martin the 4-0 lead after three.

The Skyhawks added three more runs in the sixth inning on three singles and one Union error to set the final at 7-1.

Hunter Smith started on the mound for the Bulldogs going 5.0 innings giving up four runs on seven hits. Union's weekend starters

Teddy Christie came in to throw the sixth, seventh and eighth innings for a midweek tune up to get ready for this weekend's conference series at Valdosta State.
Jordan Luzod threw the final frame for Union tossing a perfect three-up-three-down inning.

Ty Warnimont led the Bulldogs at the plate going 2-for-3 with double and a run scored for his first multi-hit game of his college career.

Nick Pibble and Mike Murphy led the Skyhawks each with three hits and a run scored. Chris Flores earned his first win of the season throwing four scoreless innings giving up just one hit.

Union returns home Tuesday, March 31
st, to take on Martin Methodist at 3:00 p.m.
