CARROLLTON, Ga.- The Union University men's basketball team dropped their third straight with a 82-68 defeat at West Georgia. Union moves to 9-3 on the season and 3-3 in GSC play. West Georgia got off to a strong start with a 9-0 early in the first half to lead Union 19-9 and stretched their lead to as many as 13 points with 11:17 left. Union cut down the lead over the next six minutes to tie the game at 28-28 on a layup from
Marterrace Brock and took the lead on the free throw from a foul on the play. UWG regained the lead just 20 seconds later and held the lead to go into the half with a 41-37 lead.
West Georgia carried their momentum to the second half with a three point play on a layup and a deep three to lead by ten. Union was able to cut the Wolves lead to just six with 12:40 left in the game, but was never able to gain the lead in the second half. West Georgia moved their advantage to double digits with over ten minutes left in the game which would hold the final score of 82-68.
Despite shooting 49.1% from the field, Union was not able to gain the momentum to break the winless streak. The Bulldogs only managed to go 3-16 from long range and 11-20 from the free throw line.
Union takes a 14 day break for the holidays before returning in the new year to take on West Florida on Saturday, January 2nd, at 4:00 p.m.
