Box Score FLORENCE, Ala. – The Union University softball team took the 3-game series at No. 15 University of North Alabama with a 2-0 win in the third game. Union split Saturday's double-header, falling 4-2 in the first game and taking game two 2-1. Union improved to 17-14 on the season and 4-9 in the Gulf South Conference. North Alabama dropped to 28-8 overall and 13-5 in league play.
In the third game of the series, Union's
Kelly Robey (12-10) and North Alabama's Blevins (14-4) were locked in a pitcher's dual for the first five innings. However, in the top of the sixth inning, Union was able to break through.
Reagan Schrader slapped a 2-run home run to left field.
Erin Picard singled with one out.
Shelby Lamb hit into a fielder's choice, retiring Picard. Lamb scored on the home run.
Robey did the rest, tossing the complete game shutout with seven strikeouts, two walks, and two hits.
Union managed just three hits in the game.
Whitney Christian's base hit in the fifth inning was the first for Union in the game. Blevins allowed just the two runs on three hits with six strikeouts and two walks in her complete game effort.
Up next for Union will be a home double-header versus Missouri University S&T Wednesday, March 26.
