Box Score 2 JACKSON, Tenn. - The Union University softball team earned a double-header split versus Delta State (Miss.) University at Fesmire Field Saturday. Union won the first game 5-1 and then fell in game two, 6-3. Union is now 13-13 overall and 2-8 in the GSC. Delta State went to 13-14 overall and 6-8 in league play.
In the first game, Union scored two runs in the second and three in the third to jump out to a 5-0 lead. The big blow was a 3-run home run by
Reagan Schrader in the third. Junior pitcher
Kelly Robey earned teh win, allowing just the one run in the seventh inning to Delta State. She allowed seven hits and struckout seven batters in the win.
Game two had Delta State scroing three unearned runs in the first thanks to a 2-out bases load double by Zoeller. Union managed to tied the game in the fourth with three runs of their own. Schrader hit her second home run of the day driving in two.
Sarah Kreuter followed later in the inning with a sacrifice fly. However, the defense slipped again as Delta State scored three more unearned runs in the top of the seventh to seal the win. Robey (8-9) tossed another complete game in the loss, allowing no earned runs on six hits with nine strikeouts.
Up next for Union will be a non-conference road trip to Hiwassee, Thursday, March 20.
