Box Score 3 PENSACOLA, Fla. – The Union University softball dropped a three game series at the University of West Florida. Union lost 8-0 and 4-3 in a double-header Saturday. Union them fell 4-1 in the third game of the series Sunday. Union dropped to 11-11 on the season and 1-7 in the Gulf South Conference. West Florida improved to 18-12 on the season and 7-4 in league play.
The first game was over in just five innings as West Florida scored three in the first, one in the second, and four in the fifth.
Kelly Robey took the loss, tossing four innings with six runs, four hits, and five strikeouts.
In the second game, Union trailed 3-0 after the second inning. However, the Lady Bulldogs rallied back to tie the game with a run in the third, and two more in the fourth. Then with the game tied 3-3 going into the bottom of the seventh inning, West Florida scored on a two-out single to get the win. Union got an RBI double from
Alex Williams in the third inning. In the third inning, Union's Ragean Schrader homered to drive in
Shelby Lamb who doubled. Robey took the loss, going 6.2 innings with four strikeouts and allowing nine hits.
Game three started with West Florida scoring a run in each the first and second innings to lead 2-0. Union scored their only run in the fourth. Lamb singled and was pinch run for by
McKinley Tribble.
Summer Cross doubled to left, driving in Tribble. West Florida scored twice more in the sixth inning to insure a 4-1 victory. Robey (7-8) took the loss, tossing six innings with four run, eight hits, and five strikeouts.
Up next for Union will be a home non-conference double-header Friday, March 14 at 1 p.m. versus Davenport (Mich.) University.
