Box Score 2 JACKSON, Tenn. – The Union University softball team earned a split in a double-header versus Lee University. Union won the first game 7-5, while Lee took the second game 7-2. Union is now 5-4 on the season and 1-2 in the Gulf South Conference. Lee is now 5-4 overall and 2-1 in league play.
In game one Union jumped out to a 6-0 lead with a run in the first, three in the second, and two more in the third. Union got home runs from
Whitney Christian and
Reagan Schrader. Lee responded and with two runs in the fourth, one in the fifth, and two in the six. Union tacked on a run in the fifth and held on for the 7-5 win.
Kelly Robey (4-2) earned the win for Union, going all seven innings, allowing five runs, three earned on eight hits and eight strikeouts. Union's
Alex Williams led the way with two hits, while Christian and Schrader added three RBI each.
Game two had Lee scoring first with a run in the top of the first. The Flames added four in the fifth inning to go up 6-0. Union added two in the sixth while Lee put up two more in the seventh to set the final at 7-2.
Alex Williams (1-1) took the loss for Union, allowing seven runs on 12 hits with three strikeouts.
Hailey Cummings tossed two-thirds of an inning in relief, allowing no runs and no hits. Four different Union players each tallied one hits for Union four in the game.
Up next for Union is a double-header at Miles (Ala.) College Monday, February 17 starting at 2 p.m.
