Box Score JACKSON, Tenn. – The Union University softball team lost their Gulf South Conference opener 3-1 to Lee University Saturday afternoon. Union fell to 4-3 on the season, while Lee improved to 4-3 overall.
Lee's Hughes (3-2) tossed a no-hitter versus Union in the game, allowing one run with 10 walks and five strikeouts. Union left 10 runners on base but could not get the hit to take advantage of all the walks. Union's Kelley Robey (3-2) took the loss, allowing three runs on nine hits with 12 strikeouts and eight walks. Lee stranded 12 runners in the game.
Lee scored first with a pair of runs in the top of the first on a 2-RBI double from Coscorros. Union added a run in the second on a squeeze bunt from Mariah Bohlmann, scoring Summer cross. Lee tacked on a third run in the third inning.
The two teams will play a double-header February 16 at 1 p.m.
