Box Score 4 HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Union University softball posted a 4-2 record at the University of Alabama Huntsville Charger Chillout this past weekend to open the 2014 season.
Union posted wins over Georgia College of Regents 2-1, Maryville (Mo.) 5-3, Ohio Dominican 4-3, and Northwood (Mi.) 3-1. Union dropped games to Wayne State (Ind.) 2-0 and Saint Joseph's (Ind.) 9-7.
Senior outfielder
Shelby Lamb led Union offensively on the weekend with a .476 average (10-21) including a double, two home runs, and four RBI.
Erin Picard and
Reagan Schrader both hit .400 (6-15). Picard added one double and three RBI, while Schrader hit three doubles and drove in five RBI.
Alex Williams his .350 (7-20) in the six games with a double and four RBI.
Junior pitcher
Kelly Robey pitched in all six games with three starts. All three of her starts resulted in complete game. Robey was 3-1 with a save in the six games. She tossed 29.1 innings, striking out 39 batters and walking just eight. She posted a 1.67 ERA on the weekend. Freshman
Hailey Cummings got two starts and made three total appearances, going 0-1 in 5.2 innings of work.
Alex Williams got one start, going 1-0 in 5.1 innings of work.
Cheyenne Mauldin also made one relief appearance, getting 1.2 innings of work.
Union will open their home schedule Wednesday, February 12 at 2:00 p.m. versus Salem International (W. Va.)University.
