Union baseball earns No. 3 seed at NCCAA Regional Tourney

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Union University baseball team will begin postseason play Wednesday in Nashville in the 2013 National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) MidEast Region Baseball Tournament. Union will be the No. 3 seed and will face No. 6 Tennessee Temple at 7:00 p.m. at Trevecca Nazarene University.

Union closed out the regular season winning four of their last eight games. Included in that stretch were two straight wins to end the season, and four straight home wins. Union (11-32) had a disappointing season by Union standards, posting their first losing record in 34 years. The last time Union baseball was sub-.500 was a 15-20 record in 1979.

However, despite the challenges, Union's team made their impact all season long. Of Union's 32 losses, 19 were by two runs or fewer. Union also posted wins over NCAA DII ranked teams including No. 6 West Florida, two wins over No. 14 Southern Arkansas, and NAIA No. 18 William Carey (Miss.).

In the region tournament, Union will face familiar foes Trevecca Nazarene and Campbellsville (Ky.).
