NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Union University baseball team posted a 6-3 win over Victory University Friday afternoon in the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) MidEast Region Tournament. Union improved to 13-33 on the season, while Victory ends their year at 30-21 overall.
Union scored at least one run in each of the first five innings of the seven inning game. Union scored in the first on a sacrifice fly from
Cole McAdams. Union added two runs in the second on an RBI single from
Wacey Russell and a bases loaded walk from
Jim Martin. Union added single runs in the third, fourth, and fifth innings with RBI singles from
Zach Wylie and
Colton Speed, and a passed ball.
Union led 5-0 before Victory cut into the deficit with three runs in the top of the fifth. Starter
John Reed (2-4) handed the game over to
Trae Bain and the Union pen. Bain (3) earned the save, tossing the final 2.1 inning, allowing three hits and no runs. Reed tossed 4.2 innings, allowing seven hits and three runs with seven strikeouts.
Union was led by Speed and Martin with two hits each. Five different Bulldogs recorded one RBI each.
Union will play next again today (Friday) at 5:00 p.m. versus the winner of Tennessee Temple and Covenant.
