MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Lady Bulldogs traveled to Memphis Monday afternoon for a conference road series against Christian Brothers University. Union defeated the Lady Bucs 7-1 in game one and 8-3 in game two. Five Union players combined for seven home runs on the day. Union improved to 16-14 on the season and 11-13 in Gulf South Conference play.

Union's offense struck hard and early in the first game of the double header with two runs in their first at bat. A leadoff single by Alex Williams and later a two-run home run from Shelby Lamb put the Lady Bulldogs on the board first with a 2-0 lead. Union added to their lead in the second with a double from Summer Cross and another two-run home run from Sam Giesler to go up 4-0. Christian Brothers answered with their only run of the game in the bottom of the frame to trail just 4-1. Union's offense tallied three more runs to their lead on another two-run home run from Shelby Lamb to score Tobie Joy to expand their lead 6-1. Another run came across for the Lady Bulldogs on an RBI double from Summer Cross to score Caylee Crews. Brooke Thomas improved to 6-7 on the season giving up just six hits in seven innings of work.

Offense continued into game two for the Lady Bulldogs. Union gained an early lead in the top of the first on another home run from Shelby Lamb to score Alex Williams. Amanda Chandler added another run to Union's lead with a solo home run for the Lady Bulldogs to go up 3-0. Union expanded their lead in the third with a two-run home run from Caylee Crews to score Chandler to lead 5-0. Another home run in the fourth from Whitney Christian gave Union a 6-0 lead. Christian Brothers answered with three runs on two hits and one error in the sixth to trail 6-3. Union added two insurance runs in their last at bat on RBI singles from Caylee Crews and Whitney Christian to score Katie Beth Fesmire and Keaton Kirk. Kelly Robey improved to 9-6 on the season recording 10 strikeouts and only five hits.

Union was led by Shelby Lamb who went 3-8 on the day with 6 RBI and three home runs, seven on the year. Lamb also tied the school record for home runs in a game with two. Amanda Chandler, Caylee Crews, Sam Giesler, and Whitney Christian also contributed the long ball to Union's victories over Christian Brothers.

Up next for Union is a home series against West Georgia on Saturday, April 13 at 1 and 3 p.m.
