HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Union University baseball team traveled to Hattiesburg, Miss. for a single road game against NAIA No. 18 William Carey University. The Bulldogs fell to William Carey 2-0 to drop to 7-21 on the season, while William Carey improved to 27-11 overall.
Offense was limited for both teams while the pitching took center stage for both teams. William Carey scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the seventh and then added to their lead in the eighth to go up 2-0. Union was held to just four hits on the day.

Wacey Russell hit an eight inning double. Jackson native
Benjie Fesmire (2-2) took the loss after a good outing on the mound. Fesmire gave up just five hits in 6.2 innings of work with one walk and one earned run.
Colin Hatch tossed 1.1 innings of relief for Union, allowing a run on one hit with a strikeout.
JD Little (6-0) stayed perfect on the season with 7.2 innings of shutout baseball, allowing just three hits, one walk and striking out three batters. Landon Brister (2) earned the save with 1.1 innings of perfect relief.
Up next for Union is a road series this weekend in Huntsville, Alabama against NCAA DII No. 4 University of Alabama-Huntsville.
