JACKSON, Tenn. – Union softball played #25 North Alabama Saturday afternoon in a Gulf South Conference double header. Union won the first game 2-1 in 9 innings for their fifth extra inning game of the season. Union lost the second game of the afternoon 2-1. Union is now 10-8 overall and 5-7 in conference play.
In the first game of the double header, both teams were scoreless through three complete innings until North Alabama struck first with a run in the top of fourth inning to go up 1-0. The Lady Bulldogs answered in the bottom of the fifth on a solo homerun from
Reagan Schrader to tie the game 1-1. Neither team scored through the end of regulation, forcing extra innings. Union won the game in walk-off fashion on an RBI single from senior

Stephanie Saunders from second base. Union was lead by
Reagan Schrader going 3-3 with a solo homerun and two singles.
Brooke Thomas (4-2) earned the win.
Union dropped the second game of the afternoon 2-1. North Alabama scored a run in the second and third innings to lead 2-0. Union answered late in the game with one unearned run in the bottom of the sixth on an RBI single from
Shelby Lamb to score
Tobie Joy from second to trail just 2-1. A scoreless seventh from both teams finished the game with North Alabama winning 2-1.
Kelly Robey (5-5) suffered the loss. Union was lead by freshman
Summer Cross going 2-2 with two singles.
Up next for Union is a Gulf South Conference double header Wednesday, March 20 at home against Delta State.
