JACKSON, Tenn. — Union closed its weekend series with Lee on a high note Sunday at Fesmire Field, using a late offensive surge to secure an 11-3 victory after dropping the first two games of the series.
Lee took the opener Friday afternoon, 12-5, capitalizing on a big fourth inning to pull away. Union jumped out early with two runs in the first and three more in the second to build a 5-0 lead.
Chloe Jones highlighted the early offense with a two-run home run, while
Ella Joy Bragan also drove in a pair of runs.
Lee answered in the third before erupting for six runs in the fourth to take control of the game. The Flames added insurance runs over the final three innings to secure the 12-5 win despite Union collecting eight hits in the contest.
Sydney Scott,
Camryn Langley, and Bragan each recorded multiple hits for Union in the opener.
Lee carried that momentum into game two, shutting out Union 5-0 later Friday.
Union scattered five hits in the contest but struggled to generate timely offense.
Rylee Moore and
Chloe Jones each recorded hits, while
Sydney Scott and
Bella Lopez also reached safely. Lee scored two runs in the first inning and added three more in the sixth to create separation.
Riley Vaughn went the distance in the circle for Union, striking out six across seven innings while allowing nine hits.
The Lady Bulldogs bounced back in a big way in Sunday's series finale.
Lee jumped ahead early with three runs in the first inning, but Union answered immediately with a four-run bottom half to take the lead. The Bulldogs kept the pressure on throughout the game before breaking it open in the sixth inning with seven runs to seal the 11-3 victory.
Chloe Jones delivered a standout performance at the plate, going 2-for-4 with five RBIs and two triples.
Camryn Langley and
Courtney Marler each added two hits, while
Rylee Moore also recorded two hits and scored twice as Union finished with 13 hits.
Moore also earned the win in the circle, tossing six innings while allowing three runs on five hits and striking out two.
Union's offensive breakout in the finale helped the Bulldogs salvage the final game of the series and build momentum heading into their next matchup.
