LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The Union University baseball team took the first two games of a weekend series at West Alabama on Friday, winning a GSC set for the first time since April 2024.
The Bulldogs held a 2-0 series lead for the first time since April 2022 after tallying a season-high 18 hits in game one, a 6-2 win, and holding UWA to four hits in the twin bill's back end, a 5-4 Bulldog victory that was 5-0 when the Tigers came to bat for the final time.
Carson Chavies extended his on-base streak to 21 games with hits in all three contests, including a 4-4 day in the middle game and a 2-5 day on Saturday.
Caleb Davis reached five times in game one with four hits and a walk.
The Bulldog offense backed freshman
Carter Daniel's career-long start, 7.0 innings in which Daniel scattered six hits and two walks while permitting just one Tiger to score.
Eli Snelson went the full seven in the doubleheader's back half and allowed four runs on four hits, including a grand slam after the Tigers were down to their final two outs.
With no midweek on the schedule, Union will next take on UAH (14-17, 7-13) at Fesmire Field. A 6:00 p.m. Friday single game will precede a 1:00 p.m. Saturday doubleheader.
