Union defeats King at home, McBride drops 28, Ringo Jr. records double-double

JACKSON, Tenn.— Union University men's basketball returned to Fred DeLay Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon, earning an 89–73 victory over King University. With efficient shooting and strong performances from their veterans, the Bulldogs moved to 2–1 on the season.

Union led 40–33 at halftime after controlling the pace on both ends of the floor. Consistent scoring and discipline on the glass allowed the Bulldogs to maintain their advantage throughout the second half, outscoring King 49–40 to secure the win.

Mason McBride set the tone early, knocking down shots from all areas of the floor. He led all scorers with 28 points on 11-16 shooting, including three made threes. McBride's steady offensive presence kept Union comfortably in front during each of King's pushes.

Terrence Ringo Jr. delivered another impactful outing, finishing with a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds. Ringo added three blocks, including several timely stops that halted King's momentum in the second half.

Union's ball movement was a highlight, finishing with 24 assists on 36 made shots. Will Lovings-Watts led in distribution with six assists while also adding eight points and nine rebounds. Jamiir Allen chipped in 12 points and three assists, and off the bench, JaDyn Lee provided a strong spark with 10 points on efficient scoring inside.

The Bulldogs controlled the glass throughout the afternoon, outrebounding King 57–34. Union's 13 offensive rebounds turned into 15 second-chance points, while the defense held King to 41.8 percent shooting and forced tough looks at the rim.

As a team, Union shot 53.7 percent from the field, 37.5 percent (9-24) from three, and 61.5 percent (8-13) from the free-throw line.

The Bulldogs return to Fred DeLay Gymnasium on Wednesday (11/26) to face off against Fisk.
