JACKSON, Tenn.- Union Volleyball kicked off the week's home slate with a matchup against Trevecca Nazarene. Following the 1-3 match, Lady Bulldogs record fall to 2-11 (0-6 GSC) and Trevecca rises to 13-3 (7-0 GSC), remaining undefeated in conference play.
The first set started out fairly even, with Lady Bulldogs and Lady Trojans going back and forth on points. However, Trevecca would go on a run, scoring 5 points in a row and ultimately switching the momentum in favor of the Lady Trojans. They won the set 25-15.
Lady Bulldogs found their footing in the second set. A kill from
Marie Torosian would push Union ahead and they would remain ahead until the end of the set.
Sarahbelle Jameson was a key player in this set, who would leave the court with 10 kills on the night, the most in her career so far. Union won the set 25-22.
Union took that momentum with them to the third set, offering a close race to 25 points. However, a kill from TNU's Katilyn Grant put the set to bed.
The fourth set mirrored the first. It began with a tight back and forth between the two team. However, Lady Trojans found their grove, at one point collecting 8 points in a row, and another 5 points in a row. Another kill from Grant would put the final nail in the coffin, leaving the score at 25-13 in favor on Trevecca.
Jameson, Torosian, and
Elizabeth Gilbert led in kills with 10, 9, and 8 respectively. Blocks were split between
Natalie Supine and Ajahnea Williams, both collecting 3, with Torosian not far behind with 2.
Setter,
Kylie Creech had the most assists with 17, followed by
Sydney Davis with 13.
The Lady Bulldogs head to Alabama this weekend to face off against Montevallo (10/10) and Alabama Huntsville (10/11).
