JACKSON, Tenn- Union suffered a harsh loss on the road to GSC opponent Montevallo. Following the match, the Lady Bulldogs dropped to a 2-2-3 record (1-2-1 GSC) and Montevallo rose to a 7-2-0 record (6-0 GSC), remaining undefeated in conference play.
Scoring opened before the match could reach the minute mark. Montevallo opened with a goal in the 35
th second.
Rebekah Jackson responded with a goal of her own. Finding the receiving end of
Lucia Revuelto's chip over the backline, Jackson was able to tie up the game in the 9
th minute.
Montevallo would wrap up the half with two more goals, going into halftime at 1-3.
Second half started with a glimmer of hope thanks to
Lucia Garcia.
Joslyn Greene played Revuelto through Montevallo's backline, who crossed it across the frame for an easy tap in for Garcia. This goal gave the Lady Bulldogs something to fight for.
However, Lady Falcons extinguished this glimmer in the 78
th minute. They would find the back of the net three more times, leaving the final score at 7-2.
Lady Bulldogs will look to bounce back next weekend at the Smith Memorial Soccer Complex for a weekend against Alabama Huntsville (10/10) and West Alabama (10/12).
