JACKSON, Tenn.- Union University Women's Soccer faced off against the Lady Warhawks for the first game of their home slate. Following the 5-0 victory, Union's record rose to 4-5-3 (3-5-1 GSC) and AUM sits at 1-11-2 (0-7-2 GSC).
Rebekah Jackson opened scoring 11 minutes into the first half thanks to an assist from
Paige Blackburn. This duo played together growing up at Tennessee Soccer Club and were able to translate that chemistry to the pitch tonight.
In the 32
nd minute, AUM player Aisling Roche received her second yellow card, resulting in Auburn Montgomery playing with 10 Lady Warhawks on the field.
Lady Bulldog goals flew in the second half, starting at the 77
th minute with a goal from lefty
Carly VanGiesen. 4 minutes later, Blackburn found the back of the next, finding the pass from
Lucia Revuelto, who was set up by Jackson.
Revuelto wanted her own piece of the pie, scoring 3 minutes later, finding the backend of a beautiful cross by
Ella Neely.
Finally, Neely played a similar cross into
Joslyn Greene, who would conclude scoring for the night at the 86
th minute. An exciting second half of soccer for the Lady Bulldogs.
Union ended up out shooting AUM 27-2 (11-1 on frame).
Dehlia Placie had a simple shutout, collecting one save in 90 minutes of action.
Union returns to the Smith Memorial Soccer Complex on Sunday (10/26) for their final regular season match up of the season. Fans can enjoy free admission thanks to the generosity of FirstBank.
