JACKSON, Tenn.- Union University volleyball took the road to Cleveland, Tenn. for a Tuesday night match up against Lee University. The Lady Flames took the night 3-1. Following the match, Union's record is 2-14 (0-9 GSC) and Lee's is 10-8 (6-3 GSC).
The first set showed promise for the Lady Bulldogs who found their rhythm early scoring the first point of the night.
Elizabeth Gilbert and
Parker Goff were both forces who aided in the successful first set.
Union kept their lead the entire set. An attack error from Lee would end the first set at 25-19.
The second set started with 6 straight Lady Flames points to which Union responded with 4 straight points of their own. This set, while tightly contested by Union, would be taken by the Lee after a kill from Jordyn Bulter; the score ended at 17-25.
The third set started with a double block from Gilbert and
Ajahnaea Williams. However, the third set mirrored the second in terms of momentum. Lee took the lead and finished the set at 20-25 in favor of Lady Flames.
The fourth and final set started with a lead by Union until the 15
th service where Lee took the lead at 8-7. They would hold the lead for the rest of the match until a kill from Lee's Sophia Lippert put the set to bed at 25-15.
Union game leaders Goff and Gilbert led in kills at 11 apiece, followed by
Marie Torosian at 7. Torosian also led in aces at 3.
Kylie Creech topped the squad in assists at 23.
