JACKSON, Tenn.—On Aug. 31
st, the Union University men's soccer team opened the season at home with a 3-0 victory over Ouachita Baptist University.
The Bulldogs scored all three of their goals in the first half. The first goal came in the 28
th minute, courtesy of a penalty kick by
Christian Harjanne. In the 40
th minute,
Ashanie Kennedy kicked a goal with assists by
Jacob Blue and
Kenny Nitzsche. Blue went on to score a goal of his own in the 42
nd minute. He was assisted by
Ostian Bowen.
Union outshot Ouachita 22-8. Eight of the Bulldogs' shots were on goal compared to two by Ouachita.
Bowen and Kennedy led Union with five shots each, and Kennedy had the most shots on goal with three. Botand Nemeth played all 90 minutes in goal, recording two saves.
Up next for the Bulldogs is a home game on Sep. 2 at 7:30 p.m. against Harding University.
