JACKSON, Tenn. – The Union University women's soccer team lost 1-0 to the University of West Florida Friday evening at Smith Memorial Soccer Complex. Union dropped to 2-6- overall and 1-4 in the Gulf South Conference. West Florida improved to 6-2-1 on the season and 4-1 in the GSC.
Union held the Argos of West Florida to a scoreless 18-shot first half. The Lady Bulldog defense held its shape in the beginning of the second half before West Florida's Mya Swinton found the net to put the Argos on top 1-0 in the 61st minute.
Union was outshot 35-3, and 11-3 on goal. Corner kicks were in the Argo's favor 11-0, and fouls were 11-7 West Florida.
Ines Gama led Union with two shots and
Lilly Ludwig contributed one.
Rylee Iorio played all 90:00 in goal allowing one goal and recorded 10 saves.
Up next for Union is a home game against Spring Hill College. This game is set to take place Sunday, September 25 at 1:00. The first fans in attendance of this game will receive a free ice-cream sandwich courtesy of Prairie Farms.
