JACKSON, Tenn. – The Union University volleyball team posted a 3-0 (25-22, 25-13, 25-18) victory over Henderson State University Saturday afternoon at Fred DeLay Gymnasium. Union improved to 7-4 on the season while Henderson State dropped to 6-7.
In all three sets Union seemed to control the pace. In the first set Union jumped out to a 3-0 lead early and held that lead the whole set. This was a trend that followed suit in the last two sets, in the second set the Lady Bulldogs jumped out to a 5-0 lead. In the third set despite Henderson State scoring first Union quickly went on a 7-0 run.
Union hit .205 in the match while Henderson state hit .072. Union led in kills 43-25, aces 5-1, Henderson State led in blocks 10-7. Union also led in Assists 34-21, and digs 55-54.
Emily Grace Calhoon led the team in kills with 15,
Bailey Hughes led with two aces,
Alyssa Tatsch and
Mikiah Perdue led the team with 3 blocks.
Jordan Vick led Union with 25 assists, and
Sydney Sample led with 15 digs.
Up next for Union is the start of conference play as they travel to Livingston, Ala. To take on the Tigers of West Alabama. This match is set to take place Tuesday, September 13 at 6:00 p.m.
