CLINTON, Miss. - The Union University softball posted a 3-0 win at Mississippi College Friday night. Union improved to 16-17 overall and 9-16 in the Gulf South Conference. Mississippi College dropped to 22-21 overall and 12-16 in league play.Â
The 3-game series concluded Saturday with a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. The games are extremely important for both teams as these two teams are fighting for the final spot in next week's GSC Tournament. The top-8 advance.Â
All three of the runs came in the Union half of the fifth inning.
Idalia Alarcon started the scoring with an RBI single to score
Macey Neal.
Morgan Jennings then capped off the scoring with a 2-RBI double, scoring
Bryleigh Carneal and
Fallon Groves.
Laken DiStefano (5-8) did the rest from the circle. She tossed a complete game shutout, allowing just two hits with nine strikeouts and four walks. Groves led Union with two hits, while Jennings led with two RBI. Union outhit MC 7-2.Â
