JACKSON, Tenn. - The Union University volleyball team posted a 3-1 (25-13, 25-18, 17-25, 25-18) win over Christian Brothers University Tuesday night at Fred DeLay Gymnasium, David Blackstock Court. Union improved to 17-9 overall and 10-2 in the Gulf South Conference. Christian Brothers dropped to 3-18 on the season and 2-10 in league play.Â
The win for Union clinched a spot in the GSC Championships, November 8, 11-13, 2022. Union is currently tied with Mississippi College at 10-2 for second place in the GSC, just one match behind leader West Florida. This is the fourth straight season for Union to be playing in the conference tournament.Â
Senior
Emily Grace Calhoon said, "This is such a huge achievement for our team. We have worked hard to get to this point and we are excited to be able to compete again in the GSC Tournament."
Super senior
Alyssa Tatsch, in her fifth season with Union, said, "It is crazy because of where we started from five years ago and the growth since then. Because of how well we have performed in recent years, the program is getting more attention and can continue to build on our successes. It is a privilege to go from not in the tournament five years ago to not just being in the tournament, but challenging for first place."Â Â

Jordan Vick, along with assistant coach Kristen Goggin Blackburn have been a part of all four GSC Tournaments for Union volleyball.Â
Union controlled the first two sets to take a 2-0 lead. After dropping the third set, Union regained the control and cruised to the 3-1 victory.Â
Union played 17 players in the match tonight, getting everyone some valuable court time heading into the final two weekends of the season.Â
The Lady Bulldogs hit .233 with Christian Brothers hitting .103. Union led in kills (48-39), aces (7-5), blocks (9-6), assists (39-35), and digs (55-54).Â
Union was led by
Alyssa Tatsch and
Emily Grace Calhoon with 10 kills each. Tatch led with two aces,
Jordan Vick with 31 assists, and
Sydney Sample with 16 digs.
Sidney Hegg, Tatsch, and Calhoon all led with three blocks each.Â
Up next for Union is senior night, Friday, October 28 at 7 p.m. versus West Georgia. The final home match will be Saturday, October 29 at 2 p.m. versus Valdosta State.Â
