No. 14 West Florida tops Union volleyball 3-1

JACKSON, Tenn. - The Union University volleyball team lost 3-1 (25-17, 25-15, 22-25, 25-20) to No. 14 University of West Florida Friday night at Fred DeLay Gymnasium. Union dropped to 15-9 overall and 8-2 in the Gulf South Conference. West Florida improved to 20-5 on the season and 10-1 in league play.
The win for West Florida broke a tie for first with Union, dropping the Lady Bulldogs into a 3-way tie for second place with Mississippi College and Montevallo, all with two GSC losses.
The first set was close with UWF leading 14-13 midway through. However, the Argos took over and outscored Union 11-4 to close out the set. West Florida dominated the second set, jumping out to a 9-1 lead, and never looked back.
In the third set, it seemed UWF was cruising to a three-set win, leading 19-10. However, Union stormed back to win the set, finishing it on a 15-3 run. Jordan Vick got one of Union's two aces late in that set to help seal the set. The fourth set was close with Union staying within 3-4 points most of the way. Union pulled to within three points one last time at 23-20, but UWF close out the set with two straight kills.
