JACKSON, Tenn. - The Union University volleyball team posted two more wins in the final day of the
Union University Invitational. The Lady Bulldogs knocked off Lane 3-0 and then held off Truman State University's rally to win 3-2. Union moved to 4-0, while Lane is 0-4 and Truman State is 2-2.

Alyssa Tatsch were named to the all-tournament team.Union won both games in Friday's action in the tournament.

Darrin McClure said, "Great weekend of volleyball. We were glad to be home in our own gym. This team showed me a lot since we had a very chaotic preseason. I have got gritty kids and I could not be more proud."
In Saturday's crosstown matchup between Union and Lane, the Lady Bulldogs made quick work for the Lady Dragons. The first set was close all the way, but Union rolled to the victory with dominating performances in sets two and three. Union hit .322 in the match with 34 kills. Union also led in aces (8-4), blocks (7-0), assists (32-20), and digs (59-43). Union was led by Reese Owens with nine kills and Haley Ramsey with seven kills. Jordan Vick led with four aces, Emily Grace Calhoon led with six blocks, and Sydney Sample led with 20 digs. Jordan Vick and Ainsley Hartman added 14 and 13 assists respectively.
Union closed out the home tournament with a thrilling 5-set victory over Truman State. Union jumped out to a two sets to none lead and seemed to be heading for the 3-0 win. Union scored the first five points of the third set and led by scores of 9-2 and 15-9. However, Truman State stormed back and took the lead at 22-21. Union scored three straight to get to match point at 24-22. Truman State scored the final four points of the set to stay alive. TSU controlled most of the fourth set to force a fifth set. In the fifth set, after back-and-fourth action early, a 3-point run put Union up 8-5. Union never trailed again. Both teams managed 59 kills each with Truman State leading Union in aces (8-5) and assists (54-50). Union led Truman State in blocks (8-5) and digs (99-79). Gray led with 20 kills, while Tatsch and Calhoon added 11 kills each. Vick and Owens led with two aces each. Gray and Tatsch led with three blocks each and Vick led with 47 assists and 22 digs.
Up next for Union will be the Ray Thrasher Memorial Tournament hosted by Trevecca Nazarene in Nashville, Tenn. Union will open play Friday at 11 a.m. versus Erskine College. The Lady Bulldogs will also play matches against Fisk, Arkansas Monticello, and Trevecca Nazarene over the two-day event.
