ROME, Ga. – The Union University volleyball team heads home this afternoon after they dropped a match against Shorter University 3-0 (16-25, 19-25, 18-25). Union dropped to 8-6 overall and 1-2 in the Gulf South Conference. Shorter improved to 8-4 overall and 1-0 in conference play.
The Lady Bulldogs had trouble keeping momentum in all three sets Shorter, despite having more errors really shined on offense as they had 47 kills to Union's 25. Shorter also more than tripled Union's aces 7-2. Shorter also led in assists, blocks, and digs.
The Lady Bulldogs were led by
Laura Rose Gray with 7 kills, while
Emily Grace Calhoon added 5.
Ainsley Hartman had both aces for Union.
Laura Rose Gray,
Alyssa Tatsch,
Emily Grace Calhoon, and
Reese Owens all recorded 2 blocks.
Ainsley Hartman led the team with 10 assists, and
Sydney Sample with 11 digs.
Up next for Union is a conference matchup at home against the University of West Georgia. This match will take place Friday, October 1st at 7:00 p.m.
