CLEVELAND, Tenn. - The Union University volleyball team sufferred a tough loss Friday night at Lee University 3-2 (15-25, 19-25, 26-24, 25-18, 19-17). Union dropped to 8-5 overall and 1-1 in the Gulf South Conference. Lee improved to 3-5 on the season and 1-0 in league play.
Union dominated the first two sets, winning 25-15 and 25-19. However, The third set was close through with the Lady Flames edging Union 26-24. Lee maintained momentum, taking set four easily, 25-18. Union led 10-8 in the fifth set before Lee rallied to get to match point at 14-12. Union tied the match at 14-14. Union fought off several match points before Lee pulled out on top, 19-17.
Lee edged Union 68-64 in kills and doubled Union in aces, 6-3. Lee led in blocks (10-7) and assists (64-63). Union led in digs (124-112).
Union was led by
Alyssa Tatsch with 20 kills, while
Laura Rose Gray added 12 kills and
Greta Blakemore recorded 10 kills. Tatsch,
Jordan Vick, and
Chloe Steen each led with one ace.
Emily Grace Calhoon led with four blocks, Vick with 57 assists, and
Sydney Sample with 45 digs.
Union will continue the road trip Saturday, September 25, with a match at Shorter University at 1 p.m. central time.
