JACKSON, Tenn. - The Union University volleyball team posted a 3-0 (25-17, 25-20, 25-20) win non-conference win over Ouachita Baptist University Monday night at Fred DeLay Gymnasium/David Blackstock Court. Union improved to 13-6 overall, while Ouachita Baptist dropped to 7-13.
In the win, a couple of Union players reached milestones.
Jordan Vick surpassed 2,000 career assists while
Laura Rose Gray topped the 500 career kills mark.
Union head coach
Darrin McClure said, "Jordan has been on fire lately and I am so happy for her to get 2000 career assists. Helping her get to that point has been playing with Laura Rose, who got her 500th kill tonight. I am very impressed with this accolade for her since she came to us as a transfer. Despite the fact that one is short and one is tall, those differences do not matter because the connection they have offensively is undeniable. I love these girls and this team. They work so hard and love each other in the process."
Union also extended its winning streak to five matches, all five coming in three sets.
In the first set versus Ouachita Baptist, the Tigers scored the first two points, but Union got four of the next five points to take the lead. It was tied a few times with the last time being 7-7. Union scored two straight points to take a lead it held the rest of the set.
Ouachita Baptist led 9-8 early in the second set, but Union scored the next five points capped by a service aces from
Bailey Hughes. Union led for the remainder of the set.
The third set was much closer through the majority of the set. Union led just 20-19 late. However, Union scored five of the final six points including kills from

Reese Owens.
