JACKSON, Tenn. - The Union University baseball team posted a split in the Saturday doubleheader with Ouachita Baptist University at Fesmire Field. Union took the first game 13-3 in seven innings while dropping the second game 8-6. Union won Friday's first game of the series 14-7. Union is now 2-1 on the season.
In the first game of the doubleheader, Union scored early with three runs in the second.
Patrick Music cleared the bases with a double that drove in all three runs. Union added two runs in the fourth when
Drew Hill hit his first home run of the season, a 2-run opposite-field shot.
With Union leading 5-2, Ouachita Baptist scored two runs in the sixth to cut the Union lead to 5-3. However, the Bulldogs exploded for eight runs in the sixth inning. RBI from

Josh Bozoian,
Ryan Lee, Hill,
Tyler Thomas, and
Austin Zeitler all contributed to the big inning.
Lee led Union, going 3-for-4 in the game. Hill and Music led with three RBI. Six players had at least two hits for the Bulldogs who pounded out 16 in the game.
Walker Adkisson (1-0) earned the win, tossing six innings with three runs, two earned on five hits, three walks, and two strikeouts. Brad Webber tossed the seventh inning, allowing no runs with a strikeout and a walk.
In the second game, OBU scored two runs in the first and two more in the fifth to lead 4-0. Union did not get its first hit of the game until the bottom of the fifth. Bozoian got Union's first hit, a single to centerfield. That hit opened the gates to a four-run fifth inning to tie the game. Hill, Thomas, and Zeitler added RBI in the frame. OBU answered with four in the top of the sixth, including a 3-run home run.
Union followed with two runs in the bottom of the sixth on a 2-RBI double from Thomas. Union left the bases loaded in the fifth, and one runner each in the sixth and seventh but could not complete the rally.
Thomas was the lone Bulldog with more than one hit in the second game, leading Union with a 2-for-2 day with three RBI and a walk.
Brandon Maxwell started for Union, tossing 4.2 innings, allowing four runs on five hits with six strikeouts.
Spencer Woods (0-1) took the loss in relief, allowing four runs on three hits with a strikeout.
Parker Shreve tossed the final 1.1 innings, allowing no runs, two hits with three strikeouts.
Up next for Union is another 3-game home series, February 7-8, versus Maryville (Mo.) University.
