JACKSON, Tenn. - The Union University men's soccer team fell 3-0 to No. 11 ranked University of West Florida. Union dropped to 3-3 overall and 1-2 in the Gulf South Conference. West Florida improved to 6-0 on the season and 2-0 in league play.
West Florida out-shot Union 9-3 in the first half and led in corner kicks 10-1. The Argos scored their first goal in the 16th minute of play when Gabriel Arraes found the back of the net.
The Argos wasted no time in the second half adding an insurance goal. Just over a minute into the half. Andrew Wentz took a fast break pass from Davi Alves to take a 2-0 lead. UWF added a final goal int he 88th minute on a shot from Teavon Spencer.
Union was out-shot 19-9 in the game, including 9-3 in shots on goal. Scott Gavin led Union with four shots.
Euan Morton played 90 minutes in goal, recording six saves.
Up next for Union will be a road GSC match at Christian Brothers, Friday, October 11 at 7 p.m.
