Jackson, Tenn. - The Union men's soccer team lost a tight match 1-0 to conference opponent Christian Brothers University. Union is now 3-4 overall, and 1-3 in the Gulf South Conference. CBU is now 4-5 overall, and 2-2 in the Gulf South Conference.
The match was a defensive show down with five saves in the first half, three coming from our own
Casper Nyberg, and 2 from CBU. Nyberg added 2 saves to his slate in the second half totaling 5 for the game. However, a late goal in the first half put CBU ahead 1-0 in the 34th minute. That goal would hold strong as the second half would bring more shots from Union, but to no avail. The match ended 1-0 in the Buc's favor. Union ended the match with eight shots, six of which were on goal.
David Hurtado had two shots in the match, both of which were on goal but neither manages to sneak their way in net.
Up next for Union will be a road GSC match versus the Choctaws of Mississippi College. That match will be on October 11 at 3:30 p.m.
