JACKSON, Tenn. - The Union University softball team was defeated by West Alabama on Monday afternoon. The Lady Bulldogs dropped to 24-15 overall and 11-7 in Gulf South Conference play. The Tigers improved to 19-15 overall and 9-8 in conference play.
The Tigers scored four runs in the first inning. Harley Bartholomew scored Union's only run off a double by Kaitlyn Kelley. West Alabama scored one run in the third. In the fourth, the Tigers added two more runs. West Alabama added one run in both the final innings, making the final score 9-1.
Gabby Morris took the loss for Union tossing .2 innings, giving up four hits and four runs. Parker Davis tossed three innings, and Taylor Manley made an appearance for 2.1 innings.
Union was led by Bartholomew with three hits and one run.
Next up for Union is another GSC matchup against No. 1 West Florida on April 6-7.
