JACKSON, Tenn. - The Union University men's basketball team posted a 90-80 win over Spring Hill College in their regular season opener Friday evening at Spring Hill.
Union led by as many as 19 points early in the second half. Union led 44-37 at the break.
The Bulldogs were led with four players in double figures.
Tyree Boykin scored 22 points,
Ousmane Gueye scored 16, Lidonta Hicks-Gentry had a 15 point night.
Tylandrius Parks added 13. Nine players scored in the game for Union. Gentry completed the double-double with 11 rebounds.
Union shot 51 percent from the field, 37 percent (11-30) from 3-point range, and 83 percent (15-18) from the free-throw line.
Spring Hill was led by Ron Rice with 17 points. Dwight Harris added 14 and Jordan McIlwain scored 12 points. The Lynx shot 41 percent from the field, 36 percent (9-25) from long range, and 79 percent (15-19) from the free-throw line.
Up next for Union will be the second game in the South Region Crossover Classic in Mobile, Ala. Union plays Lane College, Saturday, November 9 at 6:00 p.m.
