JACKSON, Tenn. - The Union University women's soccer team fell 2-0 to West Georgia at Smith Soccer Complex. Union dropped to 2-11 on the season and 1-9 in the Gulf South Conference. Shorter improved to 6-8-1 overall and 4-6 in league play.
West Georgia's first goal came in the 29th minute when Madison Cobb scored off a corner for the Wolves. West Georgia's second goal came from Karley Baker in the 36th minute.
The Lady Bulldogs bounced back in the second half, outshooting the Wolves 6-2, but fell short. West Georgia edged Union 13-10 in total shots, including 8-5 in shots on goal.
Holly Trisdale led Union with four shots.
Rylee Iorio played 43 minutes for Union in goal before leaving the game due to a collision. Iorio recorded four saves.
Anna Venckus took over in goal for the remainder of the game, getting two saves.
Up next for Union is its final home match of the season Sunday, November 3 at 1:00 p.m. against Valdosta State.
