JACKSON, Tenn. – The Union University women's soccer team lost to Valdosta State University 6-0 Sunday afternoon. Union is now 2-12 on the season and 1-10 in the GSC. VSU improved to 9-6 overall and 7-4 in conference play.
VSU's first goal came from an own goal in the 20th minute. A second goal came in the 31st minute. The 2-0 score held until halftime. In the second half, VSU scored four goals in 17 minutes to set the final score at 6-0.
In the match, VSU outshot Union 25-4, including 14-3 in shots on goal. Four different players recorded one shot for Union.
Anna Venckus played all 90 minutes in goal and recorded 9 saves. The win clinched a birth for VSU in the 2019 GSC Women's Soccer Championship.
