CLEVELAND, Miss. - The Union University women's soccer team lost 1-0 in double-overtime at Delta State University. Union dropped to 2-6 overall and 1-4 in the Gulf South Conference. Delta State improved to 3-3-4 on the season and 3-2-1 in league play.

Scott Sinclair said, "That was a tough one to lose. We will learn from it. We felt like we had multiple opportunities to beat them. We knew that we had to execute when the moments came. We will look at those moments and be able to educate our team about how pivotal moments and sequences in games can change the scoreline, and that will help us move forward and improve."
This marked the third match for Union in Cleveland, Miss. on Delta State's field. Union went 1-1 in the early season DSU classic, defeating Florida Southern 2-1 in double-overtime and then falling to Florida Tech 3-0.
Delta State created more shots in the game, outshooting Union 19-5 overall and 8-3 in shots on goal. DSU led the first half shot totals 8-2 and then 9-3 in the second half. However, neither team found the back of the net.
In the first overtime, DSU had the only shot of the period. Then, in the 104th minute of play, DSU's only shot of the second overtime served as the game-winner. Hannah James scored unassisted for the 1-0 win.
Madison Wirth led Union with two shots. Iorio Rylee recorded seven saves, playing the entire match in goal for Union.
Up next for Union will be a home match versus No. 18 Lee University at home, October 18 at 5 p.m.
