Abbie Rahn led the team in digs with 14.
Following the match, coach
Darrin McClure said, "Another 3-0 win, and its good, because we've had a lot of 5 set matches this year. I think the good part is that we're starting to play some of our better volleyball. We've talked about getting continuously better and eliminating errors that have cost us throughout the year. Being at home and playing conference teams like Shorter and Lee this weekend, it was good to get two victories, and we're just excited to approach the crossover starting next week."
After an extremely productive weekend going 2-0 against two GSC opponents, Union now sits at 6-1 in conference, which is the best start to a season since joining the Gulf South Conference. In Union volleyball history, the Friday night win versus Shorter marks the first time Union has beat them in the programs history. That also is a milestone for this teams group of seniors,
Kristen Goggin,
Abbie Rahn, and
Audrey Cagle, being their first time ever beating Shorter University. The win over Lee University is also monumental for our seniors, being only the second time in their career they have taken down the Lady Flames.
Up next for Union, the South Region Crossover Classic in Birmingham, Ala. The crossover will be October 18-19, and the opponents and game times have yet to be decided.
