HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - The Union University women's soccer team fell 2-0 at the University of Alabama in Huntsville Tuesday night. Union dropped to 0-6 overall and 0-4 in the Gulf South Conference. Alabama Huntsville improved to 2-6-1 on the season and 1-3-0 in the GSC.
The match was originally schedule to be played at Union September 23. However, weather forced a change in date and location to Huntsville.
The two teams played a scoreless first half with Alabama Huntsville holding the shots advantage 7-4 over Union.
Anna Venckus recorded two saves for Union in goal to help preserve the scoreless contest at the half.
In the second half, play continued much in the same way. The defenses limited scoring chances on both sides of the field. UAH edged Union 3-2 in second half shots. However, with just under 19 minutes remaining, the Chargers scored the game winner. Then, just over four minutes later, UAH added an insurance goal on a long looping shot over the defense.
The game ended with UAH out shooting Union 10-6, including 4-2 in shots on goal. UAH earned a 7-1 advantage in corner kicks, while the fouls were even at seven each.

Anna Barkey. Venckus played all 90 minutes in goal, finishing with two saves.
Up next for Union will be a home GSC match, September 30 at 1 p.m. versus Christian Brothers.
