JACKSON, Tenn. - The Union University volleyball team fell to University of West Alabama 3-0 (25-11, 25-22, 25-15) Saturday evening.
The Lady Bulldogs fall to 4-14 overall and 1-4 in the Gulf South Conference. The Lady Lions are now 10-4 overall and 4-1 in conference play.
West Alabama went on 4-0 scoring spree to start the first set of the match. Union was able to battle within two when UWA scored five straight. The Lady Lions continued to build the lead, winning 25-11.
In the second set, the two teams played close until UWA scored five straight. Then Union went on a six point run to make the score 21-20. West Alabama held out to win the set 25-22.
In the third set, it was tied 5-5 until a three point run by UWA gave them the lead the rest of the game, finishing with a 25-15 victory.
Union was led by Meghan Delaney with nine kills, Rebecca Sexton with 22 assists, and Abbie Rahn with 10 digs.
Up next for Union is a series of away games starting with Shorter University in Rome, Ga. on Friday, Saturday 28 at 6:00 p.m.
